The Begining

In January  I was bribed in to talking with two missionary's from the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. I had gone to a neighbors house to use his oven. He told me he was waiting for them so that he could have a lesson. I was not interested. I believed in God and that Jesus was my Savior but not in organized religion. As I was trying to hurry out of the house … the missionary's showed up. I had been introduced to them before so they started asking me to stay. I said no I have to go do dishes. They told me that if I stayed to listen to them they would come over and help with my dishes when we were done.
I stayed to listen to them as I hate doing dishes. They handed me a Book of Mormon and we read and talked about things. Then we all headed to my place and we talked more as they were doing my dishes. When they left I went to grab the Book of Mormon off the table and it was gone. They had taken it back.
The next day they were back at my neighbors house. After we did the prayer they asked me if I had started reading. I said that as they stole the book back I was not able to. We all got a good laugh and they gave me a new one.
Later that night I started to read the introduction and was thinking wow what a bad bit of fiction. But I keep my promises and the missionary's had made me promise to pray to know if it was true. So I kneed down and began to pray.
While I did not have a shinning light or an angel come in the room. There was a settling calm that came over me. My heart calmed its racing. I felt at peace. I knew then that the Book of Mormon was true.
I was excited and when the sisters came back over to talk to me and asked if I had read any I showed them where in one night I had read most of 1 Nephi. I told them that I knew it was true. The smiles on there faces were only bigger when I agreed to be baptized into the church.
